I clean them differently and will post a video in a week or two to show you how I do it, but this is kind of funny.
 
Does anyone else pull the backs off and clean the fingers off before they cook the crabs? I find that it gets more flavor in the meat...

Dungeness, the best tasting crab on the planet I think. Second would be another West Coast type..King Crab.

We used to catch Dungeness and boil them in a pot of sea water right on the Oregon Coast. Flip them over, crack open the shell, and drink the "Crab Butter" right off the back of the shell.

I agree that Dungeness taste the best. I was watching Tim's video and thought it was funny the guys eating 12+ blue crab. That would be a tall order with these ones.

Anyway I pull the lids off clean all the brains, guts out, crack in half then boil them that way in fresh water and 2-3 tablespoons of salt. Melt some butter and that's all you need. No Bay boil or other spice, these have plenty of flavor.
 
My buddy has been bringing AK King Crab to the beach a lot this Summer. Last time, he brought a Dungeness too. We all preferred the AK. I prefer it to lobster too. That stuff rocks.
