G'morning all. Out on the boat Sunday, boat runs great, (2006 260DA, 6.2, B-III, ). Back out on Monday, everything good for a short time. About 15 minutes out , check engine alarm (single loud beep about once every minute) comes on. Gauges indicate good oil pressure, temp ok, voltage ok, water psi good (6 psi range at cruising speed). proceeded to check oil, outdrive reservoir, no water leaks, no wiring issues, etc., everything looks ok. Pulled up to a local dock and engine died, didn't want to idle. Started right back up but wouldn't idle. Checking things again didn't reveal anything obvious. Restarted and head back home with alarm still beeping every minute. Back at the slip the engine now idles fine but alarm still sounding. Any advice, suggestions, comments, similar incidents ??? Is there a code reader I can purchase to diagnose problem ? I'm mechanic by trade, and do all my maintenance, not afraid to repair anything. Just hate to turn to MarineMax if I don't have too. Thanks for any help anyone could extend.

This sounds exactly like what happened to me over memorial day weekend on the trip home. Turned out to be a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) unit. Check engine alert on the gauge however I don't recall if it was a single or a double beep every minute but all the symptoms are the same.

IAC all the way, on top of motor in front of the intake... Replace it and always make sure you have a clean muffler, replace every year (small white sponge look alike). It's a single beep every minute or so.

here is the one I use....not sure if it will work with your engine though....

Thanks guys. after doing some internet digging, its seems like IAC is the culprit. Looks like an easy fix too. Gonna head down tomorrow after work to replace it . Thanks again for the quick responses.

morning all, just an update regarding the IAC. Purchased a new one on Amazon, "Standard" brand part #AC423 for $40.00. Installed in 10 minutes, everything good, no alarm. Thanks for all the input. Im gonna purchase another one just as a spare.
