I am about to buy a chartplotter for our 240 sundeck. We boat in Georgia lakes and in the Gulf around Panama City area. Looking to spend $800 or less. Looked at Garmin 541 and Raymarine A50. I need advise and suggestions? thanks

I have the smaller Garmin 441s and have been pleased so far. A larger screen would have been welcome. Get the ocean charts unit and buy the lakes chip. Have you checked with Jim at BOE the owner of this site?

I bought a Garmin GPSMAP 620 and loaded the US Inland Lake Charts from Garmin's website. LOVE IT!!! Large screen and portable. I stole mine off eBay new for $300 but had to be patient and watch for 6 months. Retail is just short of $800. The 531s is a nice unit with built in antenna and sounder. Like the Garmin over Lowrance but HDS-5 seems to be a good unit too.
