Chartplotter and a VHF DSC

I have a 1999 270DA that came with a Raymarine VHS radio. I have a 2004 Garmin 498 chartplotter. I replaced my 99 Ray, with a Class D Cobra VHF with DSC in March. Before, my Ray did not have DSC due to the manufacture date of the radio.
I would like to add the GPS ability to the Cobra, but I'm not sure if the two units are compatible.
Any knowledge of this out there?

I know the Cobra has the input, but Im not sure of the Garmin.

I'm sure the Garmin has a NMEA out port...every plotter does.

Thanks for the info. I have the manual, but I cant find the section for the GPS.

you need the NMEA section connect the NMEA out plus from the GPS to the Radio in plus if your units have the minus wires connect them if no connect the bare wires from each and that will hook you up. you will need to set your GPS NEMA output data rate to the same as your radio and turn on the sentences you want to send to the radio. All the configuration should be on the Garmin unit and in the manual.

498? or 478? I found the manual for the 478(didn't see a 498). Anyway have a look at page 117 of this
