Their is a good chance that I will be relocating to the Charlotte area in the next year or so and with that we are looking for a new area to boat. It looks to be about a 3 hour drive to the coast if we were to choose that option, however we are also interested in other lakes around the charlotte area that are big enough for a 380. We are looking for an area that has bigger boats do to the fact that we will be upgrading to the 42-46 foot range in the next few years.

Thanks

In the immediate Charlotte area there are two lakes, Lake Norman north and Lake Wylie south. Lake Norman is the larger, close to the size of Lake Lanier (530mi shoreline), lots of marinas, very developed, restaurants etc. Every size boat, plenty in the 40' - 50' range and larger. Lake Wylie is smaller, about 1/2 the size of Norman, also very developed, but not nearly as many marinas or restaurants.

Wylie has one restaurant in fact. If it wasnt on the water, it would not exist. other than that, you can get a hot dog at the Tiga Key marine store. New development on the Stow property, is supposed to have a restaurant with slips, but that looks to be a year or so out. Way less developed and way less boat traffic, but yes, way smaller. Two good sand bars to drop anchor and socialize. Plenty of good marinas and a few neighborhoods with waterfront lots and slip and community slips. I dont see either lake not supporting the current or future boats.

We had our 370DA on Lake Norman at the Peninsula Yacht Club back in '02 - '03. It's a great place for a boat that size.

We had kept it on the coast before that but it is a 3 hour drive as you say.

There's a lot of big boats on Lake Norman, especially on the south end.
