Project for this weekend...changing the front hatch on the 240SD. Currently it opens bow-stern. I find that configuration to be incredibly inconvenient...requiring that you lean over the open hatch to put anchors in and out...stow ropes...etc. The front to rear opening also prevents any meaningful use of the space under the hatch.

My thought is to change the setup to a port-starboard opening configuration and hinge a side rather than the back.

Caveats...my wife doesn't yet know about the project and I haven't decided to hinge right or left.

I will try and document the process with pictures and let you know how it works out.

Interesting project. When SR changed the bow hatch to open on the side, did they change anything other than the hinge and lock location? You might be able to get the parts from SR.

I hope it goes well. That hatch is a pain!

That's pretty smart information...I will start there!

We are talking about the anchor locker right? I would love to change that to a side opening hatch.I had never thought about changing it.So thank you. I am going to look into this weekend after I finish the Magma grill pedestal mount install on the swim platform.

My 215 EC has a side-opening anchor locker, and boat size is pretty close. Those parts might fit.

    Yep. Anchor locker.

So far...not great progress. This colossal engineering effort is seriously behind schedule. It was interrupted by seven year olds who wanted to tube and swim at Flamingo cove (then fish...but hated the idea of worms...or bread...or hooks...and needed dad's immediate attention to inspect whether the bobber was still bobbing), the poor prior planning of putting juice boxes in the front cooler (where I intended to work...and I put them there), beautiful weather, a great day on Lake Allatoona (with a pretty packed lake full of people in generally good humor) and a cold Heineken light with a six year old Cohiba Siglo IV. Did I mention the tube didn't have air or that some ill prepared Captain in name only forgot the nozzles for the onboard inflator?

Hatch complete failure so far...day pretty sucessful. I will try again today.

Did you by chance cruise by me at Park Marine on Saturday and make a "nice boat" comment?? I was sitting out in front of the gas pumps waiting on the "troops".

Thought that might have been you with the roaring Corsa exhaust!

Aha! An alibi! I am certain my wife believes (with perhaps some justification) that I had dumped the kids on some unsuspecting neighbor and headed off to an afternoon of carnal debauchery...

Instead, I was enjoying the day (after confirming that my initial plans for being productive had failed miserably) and while passing Park Marina saw a beautiful red, immaculately maintained and towered, Sundeck that was certainly worth the flyby. Y'all were the picture of a southern Saturday afternoon at the lake...great family (presume it was yours and not just borrowed for the photo op). I now know for whom to look and will keep my eyes better peeled.

Good point about the Corsa...while not to the level of concern or annoyance, it does strike me as exceptionally loud at idle without the pass through being engaged. When fully engaged, it is vastly noisier. I thought it was designed to be completely closed, or completely open...I think mine have somesort of "cat doors" that have them partially engaged at all times. Perhaps after figuring out the anchor locker I can pay more attention to it.

It was a beautiful day on the lake wasn't it?! Our first day out with the new wake board for the kids so I spent a whole day going fast for about 10 seconds! My throttle arm got a workout!:smt038

Oh, and I love the Corsa exhaust sound! As I am sure you have seen, there are some Formula's on Allatoona that I can hear coming for miles before they can be seen! Those are a little much...:wow:

Thanks for the compliment too. I see soo many Searays out on the weekends and I always wonder if they are friends on here too. You were the first person I thought of when I saw you but for some reason I thought your bimini top was red? Every Searay on the lake the kids think I know them!:lol:

I am off to wakeboard the kids around today too! They should all have fully funtioning gills by summers end.

You guys need to be flying a CSR burgees!

You need to order them ASAP so you can have them for the Allatoona CSR raftup.

That pictures of the girls on the lake is what it is all about. Does not get much better than that.

As the hatch yes, it is a pain. I noticed on the newer one they are opening to the side.
