Hello,

I was looking to replace my aging and cracking 11 year old steering wheel on my 2005 Sundeck 240.

Do I just need to pull those 6 socket bolts out and drop the new wheel on there? I was hoping I don't need to pull that lower hub assembly.

The Schmitt steering wheel seems to have the same 6 bolt pattern on it.

Any Sundeck owners swap on a new wheel just changing the 6 bolts on top?

(the boat is in storage and this is the only photo I have before putting it away)

Same as my 260DA. Yes-remove the 6 allen head screws, put new wheel in place, and replace the screws. I only had one problem...5 of the 6 screws backed out with maybe 2 of them being very hard. The head on #6 stripped out. I took a drill bit and cut the head of the screw off so I could remove the wheel. Channel locks would not even budge the screw. Removed the center shaft nut, used a gear puller and then removed the hub. My wheel came with a new hub, so I installed it and then the new wheel. Took the hub with the broken off screw to work and removed it. Just gave it to a friend with the same issue, except he could not remove 2 of his screws. I would suggest soaking the screws with penetrating oil for a couple of days before hand.

Thanks for those tips, I'll try and get some oil on those screws!
