Changing my own oil?

One thing I've found when the tube is inserted in the dipstick hole, it is possible for the tube suck itself against the bottom of the oil pan reducing extraction to a trickle. I use a little hand pump and can feel it grab and the pump is hard to work. Lift the tube half an inch and all is well. I think a lot of people experience this problem without realizing it. Also, the tube comes coiled. When inserted, it can curl up above the oil level and suck air.

I have been using the Jabsco drill motor pump for over 20 years, I did have to add a longer tube and switch from a 2 1/2 gal to 5 gal jerry jug when I got the 380 DA though. whole operation is about one hour total for both engines

Im a little confused by your post. Are you saying the Jabsco unit is a piece of junk??

Jabsco pump/jug setup is GREAT!!!

Hand pump I used last year was junk ( no suction and rubber falling apart ).

WM rep did say they have had returns due to impeller failures. They think it was from the oil ruining the impeller. The instructions say the rubber is made of oil resistant stuff now though. I rinsed my jabsco setup with soap and water followed by water.

This is my first time using the jabsco oil extractor and RECOMEND it so far. We will see next year.
