i have a 1983 Sea Ray 225 and the wood cabin hatch is rotted out so I would like to put a newer style hatch with a window in it.

My question is

1 has anyone done it?
2 where is a good place to get a hatch?
3 will it fit in the old hole?

thanks

My 300 has a wood hatch for the anchor locker my buddy rebuilt mine he is quite the teaksman!! He cot and pinned it and I am on 4 years with it and it hasnt warped, split or anything. He could probably build you an exact cheaper than buying a new one and it would look original. If interested let me know mcavoydan@yahoo.com

thanks if i go back to a wood hatch ill send u a pm

There's a company called Nuatical Lumber in our area that can make you a new cover (king starboard/teak venner/etc.). you'd just need to let him use the original as a template. I had a new anchor box hatch (teak veneer) made by him this spring. it looks awesome. I will be having the cabin hatch made this winter (currently looking shabby as well).

Sorry, I have no pics.

Go to Bowmar's or Taylor's website. IIRC, there are schematics there with sizes. Any marine dealer can get these for you.

I also have a 1983 225 SRV and replaced my older style with a Bomar hatch which worked great. This summer I still need to replace the anchor locker cover as it needs to be repaired. I found one on e-bay so I didn't have to go to the website. However it took a while because of the dimensions. I was wondering did you have an issue with the locking mechanism for the compartment underneath the steering wheel. We can not seem to find a replacement and because of the angle of catch to the locking mechanism we cannot seem to find one that will work.
