Finally got home early enough to enjoy the weather (between snow) and cut off the old cannon plugs and exchange them with the newer style scotty marinco power plugs. These lock and have a rubber gasket to prevent water intrusion at the plug connection. These lock into place just like our shore power cords but only with two connections instead of three.

I used a simple technique to open the existing 7/8" hole to the newer 1-1/8" hole... Simply inserted a long socket that was 7/8" wide inside the 1-1/8" saw hole as seen in the photo, taped the area and cut... Biggest problem was fishing the wires back out the hole. Took less than an hour to cut old plugs off and install new male/female plugs. These newer marinco plugs seem very well built and hopefully will work for a long long time...
