chalky fiberglass

sbw1..........yes, an extendable boat hook comes with it......................i think i found my solution...............it is a trailer ladder from quality mark........4 rungs with handle that mounts to the port side of the trailer.........sent pictures of trailer tongue to owner of company, he told me which one to buy........best of all, you can get it from amazon, so i know if i don't like it, i can send it back........thank goodness i recently lost 50 lbs.........hahahaha.....we shall see......................

good morning..........update for anyone following.............inspection done, seller paid to fix a couple of minor issues, inspector/boat tech pronounced it "a very sound boat"..............sea trial was yesterday...........went well except putting boat back on trailer, very windy and choppy...........anyway, the 215 ran like a champ...............deal is finishing today with the ceremonial "passing of the check".............as to the chalkyness issue, had a 45 minute conversation with capt. rusty yesterday...........the guy knows his stuff, and is walking me thru getting the chalkness under control.......it will be a pretty big job, but i have nothing but time...............so here we go.........thanks to all for you help on this purchase...

You certainly did your due diligence with this purchase.

Congrats on the purchase! You did do your due diligence and it seems to have paid off. I only wish more boat buyers would do the same. This forum gets so, so many posts from people that bought a boat without sea trial and/or survey and then want to know how to fix all the problems their boat has.

I'm sure Capt. Rusty suggested you will need an orbital buffer and a dual action buffer/polisher. If you don't already have them you can get a decent buffer at Harbor Freight. I've had mine for about 8 years and it still works perfect. Being a cheap bastard, I was reluctant to pay the price for the dual action machine and I found a refurbished one on Shurhold's website. Also check eBay as a lot of people buy them, use them a couple 2-4 times and then sell them.
Nice job and enjoy your boat.

thanks...........actually capt. rusty said start without orbital buffer, using hand action instead......he walked me thru the process, explained a lot, and gave me a list of items to purchase................as soon as the weather improves, and i can first give the boat a good hand washing, i am gonna get the things he recommended and give it a try.........he said once i see that i am not going to completely screw things up, he mentioned moving on to an orbital............we shall see................

I am suggesting using hand action in a very small area to determine and prove to you that there is still beautiful gel under the chalky stuff. Like we talked about that if I were to undertake the entire deck and hull, buffers and sanders would be my approach, since that much would wear your hands to the bone. Anxious to start seeing results.

Congrats on the purchase and as always, thanks to Capt Rusty on doing what he does best - help improve our boating. Now if the weather here in the Buckeye state would just improve so we can start enjoying our boats.

Casey, I was on alum creek yesterday........pretty windy, but the windshield does a great job of blocking the wind......can’t wait to get started.....
