I have a old cb radio and it still works I was wondering do people still use them??

I have one also. This past February, when I drove to Key Largo, I put it in the car and left it on.....to listen to the truckers for backups and entertainment driving through the night....a 22 hour ride.

It saved me at least an hour at one point getting around an accident, and certainly provided some entertainment in the wee hours of the day......down in the 'south'....

that is what I have done and was wondering if anyone use cb on water??

May find some use on smaller inland lakes, but on big water/great lakes and inland rivers the limited transmit power (5 watts) doesn't fly when compared to VHF (25 watts) or SSB.

Yeah, we definitely got us the front door good buddy,
Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy

Are youse Northerners talking about us Southerners and our CB Radidios?:smt043

When I was a teenager our group all had cb's in our cars (yeah I know bunch of rednecks). This was pre cell phone. The cell phone killed the cb for me just like video killed the radio star. Still might be a little red though.:smt043

I found this one with the trans hump bracket and I have the magnet mount ant. and a 12v plug add 12volts and I hear truckers giving smokey sighting,,took me back to 1976 mack truck hats the smell of diesle...and a sore back..

The History Channel is doing a show on the CB radio now

I got into c.b. back in 1976 as a teen, met some great people and girlfriends:grin:, i still have a base station that i can talk across the country and have talked to europe.[skip] yes, cell phones killed c.b. but there are still die hards out there and i must say i met my wife on the c.b. so it has been very good to me.my brother has one in his boat,i dont yet,[just vhf] not sure if it is used much on the water, but shakespear does make a marine c.b. ant....good luck and let the prop fly, good buddy, bearcat is 10-7:thumbsup:

Met your wife on the cb?

:smt043

That's like one of those "You know your a redneck if..." jokes.

Of course I lived in my girlfriend's family mobile home in Starkville, Mississippi for a couple of years... her father would bring freshly killed rabbit and put in the freezer once and awhile... But I would NEVER have admitted that in a public forum.

hey gary,it sure beat the hell out of doing the bar scene, and she's a hot blonde, guess your just jealous.and i live in mn.not down south where the rednecks roam:smt021

When I was in college I had a '72 canary yellow Dodge Scamper with like a 10' whip antenna on the rear bumper :smt043 Needed it though as the county was dry & we had to drive 50 miles or so to Knoxville to buy any liquor & never seemed to have time to do the speed limit. Lots of fun.

How bout that southbound big R....you got your ears on? How's it lookin over your donkey toward the Ktown there good buddy.....Kick it back.......

10-4 good buddy, had the same,it was a 8 ft. whip[1/4 wave length] use to live in clarksville,TN. back in my army days. alot of good ole boys on the c.b. back then:thumbsup:

I'm a retired truck driver after 34yrs of that crap !!. I still use a CB in my car / van / and motorhome. Old habits are hard to break.
