I'd like you to know what happened to my brand new 260 sundancer while being repaired at the Marinemax facility in Pensacola. This is by the way the second boat I bought from Marinemax, but I can assure you it will be the very last.

Our boat had some issues with the dynamic running surface. Sea Ray had Marinemax of Pensacola get the boat from our very secure dry storage facility in Niceville (14 June ) to run some tests on the 15th and 16th of June.

After the testing Marinemax stored my boat outside and uncovered (even though there was a cover in the cabin of the boat). Marinemax called last Thursday (22 Jun) at 2PM and told me that the boat had tipped off the rack due to "high winds". (See pictures below). We checked and the highest winds encountered that day were about 40 mph gusts. How that could knock over a 7,000lb boat that was properly placed on a bunk is beyond me. We asked what time they had discovered the boat and they said 9AM.......so why didn't they call us earlier? They said damage control. Meanwhile there were no other boats on the yard that were tipped off the rack.

Bottom line is that My boat was in Marinemax possession, to be fixed at the request of the manufacturer. You had an obligation to treat my boat with the same care that it would've gotten at my marina. Marinemax had days to prepare for this tropical storm, and yet did nothing to mitigate the risks. They didn't drive the boat back to my secure dry storage after the testing, they didn't try and put the boat inside their dry storage facility and if they couldn't do any of those things then they should've put side supports on the boat. They didn't care.

They did however care about my insurance carrier, the first question they asked was "who's your insurance carrier? Can we contact them directly?" Fred your regional guy from Marinemax made no apologies or offered to take care of this.

It looks like from the initial appraisal that Marinemax caused $25,000 worth of damage to my boat. Notice the boat next to ours with the side supports. Notice how it didn't tip over?

You guys should be absolutely horrified at how I've been treated. Shame on you guys.

Why should I or anyone else here feel shame for how you were treated at Marine Max? None of us here have any affiliation with Marine Max. Sorry for what you have been through, but you are not unique in having a bad experience in boating. I'm sure we all have experiences of some shape or another that were very unpleasant..I know I have. Hope it turns out for the best, but if your intention of this thread is only to flame a business, well, that is not what this forum is for.
