My starboard intake air heater (sandwiched between cylinder head and intake manifold) has one very 'crispy' brown colored rubber insulator boot on the center connection. The brown is discolored white paint; the other boots (both engines) are still covered in white paint and appear pliable.
What gives with this one? The nut below the boot is tight and corrosion free. Is this element shorted out and causing the connection to heat up?
