I had to share this photo with you guys (and gals). I am in Fort Lauderdale with my family before we head out on a Caribbean cruise this week. We did some sport fishing and my 12-year old son reeled in an 8' hammerhead shark! He never caught anything bigger than a walleye before yesterday.

We fought it for 45 minutes before landing it. He did 85% of the work and I just helped him bring it in once he reached exhaustion. He is so proud!

That is cool!!

Awesome! What a great way to start a vacation. Additional memories!!!

Wow. Way cool!!!

Great photo! You both will remember that forever just like I did with something similar. Every detail is etched in my I memory.

We released it... Hoping to get a replica made but I choked on the price.
We had a similar experience in Fla pre. cruise. Caught a 8ft Blue Marlin off of Key West. Tag and release. We did buy the replica which was very costly, but all in all generates continued memories.

Ken, you talking about the Superbowl? Just kidding.

Bryan, that's a great picture. How about in lieu of the replica you have that photo enlarged, nicely framed and mounted on the wall!

That's the route I plan to go... Too many boat fixes needed to spend that much money! Either way, my son and I will remember it forever!

That picture brings back memories when I was about the same age. My uncle took me aboard the Jamaica II out of Brielle NJ to go bluefishing. That boat goes out to what they call "The Mudhole". And we hammered them. Oh how much fun that was. Nobody thought to take pictures.

You did take pictures. Keep them and for sure hang that on a wall framed up. That is a great picture for sure. Taking a kid fishing is more of what this society needs. GREAT CATCH!

WOW! That is something your son's going to remember for ever. Great pic too!

Great catch but wait, how were you guys able to safely hold an 8' Hammerhead if it still had enough energy to stay alive once it was released..?
I know that it was tired after a 45 minite fight BUT....!!!!

That was one exhausted fish! I can tell you that it wasn't out of the water more than 2 minutes and I saw it swim away with my own two eyes...

Glad to hear it was a release and lived to fight another day. Nice work.
