Cat 3176B Marine engines

Hi guys, anyone with experiences relating to the above engines good or bad....? Thanks in advance.

Depends upon the load you put on them. There have been owners of 500DA who have been very unhappy with their performance, while the next engine in that series, the 3196, does quite well in the 500. In a trawler type boat with much lower speeds would be one thing, while a 50ft cruiser would be altogether a different story.

A friend is looking to purchase a Fairline 60 with these engines at 600hp. Are you saying they could be a little underpowered for this sized vessel...?

At least a little; maybe a lot........but, I have no experience with Fairlines

Thank you and yes! We ending up using her a lot this past year. I really love this boat! I actually had her sold a couple times +++, but couldn't let her go.

Yes blizzard, ny 27" we got a foot
