Apologize if it's been posted but can't find a specific thread about Cat 3126 and Westerbeke 7.6 generator parts, and if it's not let this thread make a reference to the owners of aforementioned engines and genny.

I'm gonna do this year's maintenance for my father's 2001 410DA in mid april.

The boat is currently located 700 km far from where we are and dad don't have the part numbers in handy, and I have to buy the correct parts before april.

So could you please CAT 3126 TA and Westerbeke 7.6 kw owners let me the part numbers of oil and fuel filters, impellers, zincs, belts, engine and trans oil viscosity and others if I'm not aware of since I'm a Volvo guy and this will be the first time I'll servicing a CAT engine.

Thanks in advance.

PS: If it makes easier or difference in years I can post the engine serial numbers.

The Westerbeke is straightforward.....a complete model number will get you the parts you need.

Caterpillar is different......Cat uses an arrangement number in addition to the model and serial number. There were several arrangements......i.e. different set ups for filters, pumps, etc accessories installed by the distributor who sold the engines to Sea Ray. With the Cat model no, serial number and arrangement number, you should be able to find everything you need at a Cat dealer near the boat or perhaps via long distance if you can find a dealer who can ship to you.

Great thanks for the info Frank.

You saved me a lot both cash and time before buying wrong parts for the CATs', I'm heading towards the Cat distributor with the engine serial numbers for exact numbers.

Thanks again.

I don't know what you may find where you are are far as prices are concerned, but in the States, if you can buy real Caterpillar parts/filters/fluids, from a Caterpillar dealer who is not on the water and caters more to th e earthmoving side of their business, Cat filters and fluids are actually cheaper than aftermarket parts. There are, however, some shortcuts some of us have learned along the way.......for expample, Sherwood makes the OEM seawater pumps for Cat and you can find anynumber of online resources for Sherwood impeller kits and pumps (Depco comes to mine because they have a great online catalog and because the impeller kit is about 50% of the cost @ Caterpillar) Another part to source elsewhere is engine zincs. Try boatzinc.com. All their zincs are Canadian Metal Products zincs (CAMP) and are the same as Cat OEM zinc except that you can buy the anode only and use your existing brass plug to save about 75% of the cost.

Frank, huge thanks again for the thorough info.

The most available place to buy engine parts is US both in terms of price and supply as your recommended suppliers have very attractive prices.

I'll get in touch with them as they are the cheapest to buy but have to calculate the freight and customs/import tax (would be applied) will be cheaper to buy or if exceed will buy locally where we have here Caterpillar marine and industrial distributor and some dealers and service shops.

Also thanks for the tip of using the existing brass plug, it will be lowering the cost of 2x11 zincs totally.

And you got spare impellers! Good for you. The impeller tool I have never used. Get a bolt and use a socket on it, way faster. The Sherwood guy at the boat show gave me one of the impeller tools.

Their impeller tool is too long to use on the 3116/3126 anyway. It is much handier to get a 3/4"-16tpi about 1-1/2" long then use a socket/rachet or even better a racheting box end to screw the bolt in the impeller hub and jack the impeller out of the pump housing far enough to grab it.

I found the price very reasonable and bought 2 spares or for next year.
They gifted two impeller tools, I don't know how much it's price and worth to call it as gift.

Frank thanks for the dimensions.

I haven't opened the box of impeller to try the tool as I bought lots of things for my father and they occupy a huge space at home, I fear wife gonna throw them before we take them to the boat But it seems longer than the impeller and will pull the impeller with a suitable wrench or special impeller puller.
