My cat 3116 manual states that I need to have 1500 cold cranking amps. I have been looking for a starting / deep cycle battery that will work but I am having a hard time finding what I need. That batteries that are in the boat now show they have 900 cca. each but not sure they are deep cycle. They are everstart. and I went to Walmart to check them out but they are not available and for some reason Walmart has pulled all the marine batteries off the shelf and on line also.
So what size and cranking amps have you guys been using and would recommend .

I run the NAPA Marine and RV deep cycle group 27 battery. I have 4 of them that run everything.

For starting you will need two Group 27 dual purpose (both starting and deep cycle) batteries or Group 31 dual purpose batteries. Pure deep cycle batteries will not discharge cranking amperage. When looking at Group 27 for example they range from around 600 CCA to just about 950 CCA so you need to review the specifications. You will be good with anything over 700 CCA for each battery to start those engines..
FYI I've got two Gp 27 950 CCA AGM's for the Port and three GP 27 950 CCA AGM's for the Stbd.

This spring my 3126s would not start, unless I used the parallel switch. When I took the current batteries into the shop they tested out at 550 cca each. New crown dual purpose group 31s are rated at about 825 cca. That. Is what I went with. So I with 2 batteries I parallel I went from 1100 cca to 1700 cca. No more starting problems.
