Cash for Clunkers

Here you are assuming it ceases to be, the only way for sure is if it is not connected to any network, e.g an active ISP connection. Your system has no wireless or cable connected connection.

For my money it probably is not being looked at from Cars... I myself do not worry, but by just not being connected to cars.. does not mean one cannot be looked at.

But, if someone wishes to look (Homeland Security, NSA, etc), well now they have all of the necessary information to do so.

What necessary information? They can get your IP address, and some basic information about your system, but anyone can get that. The admins of this site or any site can get the same information. I could embed a picture in this post and get the same information.

There's no voodoo magic that allows the government to just take over a computer remotely at will. I guess in theory they could raid your house, and if they'd like to raid mine I'm all for it-- my lawyer and I would be rolling in dough afterwards!

I've just now read a summary of the video after doing my best to avoid it as I do most of most Fox News' coverage of, well... anything. It should be noted that the terms in question only applied to a section of the area that dealerships have to log in to. I thought this was already known, but the Fox reporters make it sound like it applies to the site in it's entirety. It doesn't. The only people this affected were the car dealerships after they logged into the website.

yup... so standard in fact that the CARS program administrators announced that they are "revisiting the verbiage" .. well isn't that curious. Shine a bit of light on these nefarious programs and low and behold they get "revised"

It was reworked because there's a lot of people who believed the hype. The new one still says the same stuff, except now it leads you to www.dot.gov/privacy, where it's spelled out in a much wordier fashion.
