I just bought a Carver 35 ACMY and need to replace both the sundeck carpet and the interior carpet. Having no experience with this, is it necessary to get a person experienced in marine carpet installation or is there a less expensive way.
Can anyone recommend a person/company in the Tampa Bay area or Port Charlotte, FL area.
Thanks,
Tim

try snap in carpet. they did our carpet, great product and they had the template for our boat. fit nice and comes with all the snaps. they advertise on this site.

good luck

You do not need a marine carpet guy, most carpet companies by the shore do boats on a regular basis....just ask them.

Will try snap carpet and ask around the local area. Thanks guys,
Tim

We have a new advertiser that will be on CSR when they get the ad copy to Jim and he can get it up on the site....Corinthian Marine Carpet. They have a far superior carpet to Snap-In-Carpets and guarantee their premium products for 3 years.

I wanted a design different than the standard Sea Ray snap in carpet and worked with the folks at Corinthian. They were a pleasure to work with and their product is truly outstanding.

Thanks for the kind words Frank! I'll definitely be posting pics of your installed carpet soon!

I'd also like to point out that Corinthian Marine is offering a 15% discount to all Club Sea Ray members for the month of June!

I was just about to place an order for my 400DA. Good thing I clicked on this topic. Thanks.

Hmm. Having just replaced my carpet last month from SnapInCarpets - I'm left wondering how Corinthian's product may be superior to what I installed?

That one is simple.........Corinthian has both better face carpets, I chose a 36 oz Premium Berber and the competition uses a cheaper grade 28 or less oz carpet, Corinthian offers several different edge treatments instead of the standard Sunbrella binding (I chose a serged edge which looks more like a premuim car mat than a boat carpet), but the backing is the key difference.

Corinthian has a proprietary ribbed vinyl backing that does not degrade or dry out like the rubber or latex other snap in carpet makers use. Where we are in Florida, regular aftermarket carpet sets as well as those you get from Sea Ray last about a year before the backing starts to come apart. Wait 18 months and you nearly have to sand blast your deck to get the latex backing off. The only way to forestall this is to frequently wax your decks under the carpet. Corinthian warranties their Aquamats for 3 years and in my discussions with them, they told me they have yet to have a backing failure.

If I get 3X the life out of a set of carpets, then my effective cost is cut to 1/3 that when I used Sea Ray or other aftermarket carpets.

I requested a quote from both sites. The snap in site was $600 which I thought was incredibly reasonable. I'm expecting the Corinthian to be higher, but if it means that I won't have to scrub black rubber off the deck, it's going to be worth it.....

Our carpets really don't look that bad from the top, it's the backing peeling off that I can't stand, but now I realize that it's not just us.....

I got a quote from a Corinthian dealer this weekend. My 35 Carver ACMY for the sundeck carpet was $840. The interior carpet which we were most interested in was a whopping $2600. We are looking at some alternatives. After upgrading some engine systems like freshwater flush, multistage fuel filtration, raw water alarms and numerous other projects, the cash flow has gotta slow.

I've been thru both processes and the work involved in replacing the interior carpet is a lot more than I was expecting. The carpet was easy to figure, but the gotcha is how hard the old carpet is to remove (in a Sea Ray anyway) and how many pieces that must have new carpet glued to them.

THe interior carpet replacement is a process Im glad is behind me.

The carpet is glued in my Carver as well. I didn't get a separate quote for the removal. I think we're going to steam clean and use a throw carpet for a year or so.
