My previous 310 had carpet backing black rubber stuck to the deck.
i DON"T want that to occur on my new baby, although the upper decks are Teaked, there is rubber backed carpet in some area's above.
Is there a backing spray of sort or something that can be applied to the back of the carpet to stop rubber back carpet peeling?

Mine became very flaky- really a mess.
I coated them with a product called Durabak smooth in black.
2 years later still perfect and never another speck of black left in the floor. On a new boat though, I would wait for a while and not attack it until first signs of impending flaking.

I am surprised you would have that old black backed carpet in 2017..if I remember it was a more open cell foam backing where the newer carpet is a closed cell design. I just went thru the process of replacing mine and that black backed stuff was not in any of the sample selections. Maybe yours is new and improved and you won't have to worry about it.

Mine is original from 2006. I am on my 3rd summer with it. In the very beginning, 3 years ago, a few very small places acted like they wanted to stick to the non-skid under it. I started then and have coated it good with 303 Protectant every spring and have had "0" issues since.

I would be surprised if this new boat has the same backing issues. They have come a long way with carpet backing.

Its not the same on this boat, took a closer look this evening and its a dark brown weave type.....very nice, hope it holds up

Thank all....i feel better now.......

2017 540....damn.......congrats!

+1 on the Plsticdip. Used white spray on. Cured it well then put baby light powder to ensure it would not bond the the floor. Cleaned it off well and that has been two years ago
