Caring for eisinglass

Hampton said:
I bought my boat used, just under 2 years old. The eisenglass had apparently never been installed. It was folded, creased, and scratched. Some areas have white scratch marks. It's been up for a few months now, and most of the creases are coming out. It's clean and clear except for the scuff marks.

What are the steps for cleaning/polishing/repairing heavy scuffs?

These products may be what you need.

Also, when storing my eisenglass, I gently roll up each section, never fold and place a towell between each. How do others store the panels to prevent scratches and creases?

John,

Sand is the real concern in our area. Wash the eisinglass with a mild soap before doing anything in terms of polishing. End whatever polishing/cleaning steps you choose with a good non-abraisive wax product. Then rinse the eisinglass panels after each use and never roll them up without a barrier like a towel or an old sheet to prevernt eisinglass from touching eisinglass while the panels are stored.

Be careful using a power tool of any kind on the eisinglass. The panels don't withstand much heat without distortion and discoloring......if yiu do use a buffer, run it very slow and keep it moving.
