What's anybody think? When I start engine cold it fires right up.It runs great idles perfect. After warmed up and I shut engine off.Let's say getting gas at marina. When I go to restart if I don't catch it on first fire.I have to put remote in full choke to restart engine. Then it cranks for a bit before it fires. My first thought was needle and seat bypassing or float sticking. After talking to a mechanic he thinks the fuel is getting hot and boiling. He suggest install a carburetor deflector shield.Has anybody had this issue if so how did you fix? Thanks

I would check to ensure your choke is working properly. Since it starts cold but not hot, possibly the choke is not opening as the engine warms up.

What make of carbs are on the engines? Some leak internally and that causes a hard starting condition on a warm engine. The carb could be getting hot but my bet is you have the original Quadrajets or Webers which behave like that when they get older.

The best action is to run the boat, shut off the engine and let it sit for 10 minutes. Pull the flame arrestor, watch the choke plate and have a friend start the engine. Your mechanics theory and mine are essentially the same which is there is no fuel in the carb for two different reasons.
