I have a 2008 185 sport with 4.3 tks . I know the floats in these soak up fuel and the accelerator pumps give out. I have ordered a float and rebuild kit for a mercarb and have been told it will work on the tks. Ant thoughts?

The parts will likely work fine as long as you ordered for the correct carb..
The float working well or not well is all in the set-up. Be careful to set it just as specified.
"While it's out"............. happens everytime.
Check for play in the throttle plate shafts. They can be bushed if excessive.

Are they a foam type of float? Sorry, not meaning to hijack the thread, but we have an 09 185 4.3tks (163 hrs ). Out of curiousity, how many hours do you have? But time itself and not hours I suppose can harm the floats. I am familiar with motorcycle carbs. Just wondering if I can expect any problems? Is this a preventative measure you are taking or you have already removed the carb and found damage? Thanks, Jeff

The float is a plastic material which will eventually soak up up fuel. This is one of the reasons I am rebuilding. My boat has 500 plus hours and is 8 years old. Very common issue.

Cool, thanks for the info. If you remember by chance, I would be interested in seeing a picture or hearing your findings on the floats and maybe the whole carb condition in general once you dig into it.
