Capital Gains Exemption on Home Sale Going Away?

There must be a lot of money in peddling class warfare, hate, and other BS.

How well do you lie, Dave? I was in sales and I don't like that well.

BRAVO TO ALL THREE FRANKS ON THIS ONE! we'd better hold onto our friggin' wallets if this socialist wins. cradle to the grave. he's not even working on the same time frame as europe! how long's the boating season in france??

btw, if the hedge fund manager's secretary invested in the market, she'd pay 15 percent of what she gained too. that seems fair to me.

inciddntally, 15 percent of $29 billion will buy a whole lot of free CT scans; that is, if the patients dont die of their disease while waiting in line at the bureacracy-run Barack Hussein Obama Memorial Clinic, Hospital, Pharmacy and Family Planning Clinic.

for God's sake, anyone who thinks the "rich" don't pay their fair share please read this. what the hell else do they want from this group of taxpayers?????!!!!!!

Ron,
That yahoo answer looks like it came straight from ATF's analysis of income taxes. The interesting part was some of the answers. The scary part was some of the answers -- and that some of those ill-informed idiots who wrote them probably will vote.

Frank, you can have mine. Watch them disappear today. ...along with Lehman.

Best regards,
Frank

PS
Someone doesn't like this post.

..and probably don't know the meaning of "condescending."

I'm still puzzled how "95% of Americans are going to get a tax break" when 40% of Americans don't pay taxes....

I went over this with my mother a few years ago. She was all upset because she was not getting a refund... let alone she didn't pay any taxes but she still didn't understand.

The idiots are talking about payroll taxes, including social security. They want to cut FICA, despite social security is going down the tubes, because it's -- wait for it -- a "regressive tax." Then they'll make FICA taxes "progressive."

That will, of course, expose the naked truth about that redistributionist ponzi scheme.

Best regards,
Frank

frank, i didnt even read below that yahoo post at the top of the page. i went back and read the other posts now and i see what you mean. these other people are voters too and it is unbelievable how misinformed and misled they actually are. no one is interested in the facts, just whatever story they are fed that falls in line with what they want to believe.

It warms my heart to know that everyone has figured out Obama. I think the liberal media is going to be in for a big surprise come November. When people figure out that all he stands for are more welfare programs the race won't even be that close.

Don't get ME started about FICA. . . .I agree that that system is messed up, but I can just bet that we do not see eye-to-eye on it.

Just curious: Is there anyone on this board who believes we should be concerned about having a balanced budget? I suspect few care about that topic. I do not believe either party is really interested in that topic either.

You don't think that social security is a redistributionist ponzi scheme?

Frank;

I believe. . that I am more likely to be abducted by a UFO than collect social security when the time comes.

I believe. . .that if Social Security taxes actually went to paying for Social Security now and in the future that there would be no Social Security crisis.

I believe that the day the government will take Social Security seriously is 1 day *after* checks fail to go out.

I believe. . that this discussion would be much more fun over a beer. Considering that our boats are moored 10 miles apart, we probably should do that sometime.

Sounds like we agree, then. Except that the projections show that there will be more people on social security than in the work force, so a crisis probably is inevitable.

Best regards,
Frank

My take on a balanced budget is this:

1. It's desirable thing to want;

2. We have a representative form of government;

3. Living beyond their means is an American pastime;

4. Therefore, since government represents us, the people, and we live beyond our means, how can we expect the guv'mint to do otherwise?

Balancing the budget, what a novel thought. Over short periods of time, and for specific purposes, deficit spending is acceptable and even useful. However, what is happening currently is down right irresponsible. All I heard when Regan was running up deficits was about how our grandchildren would have to pay for it. But Regan had a plan and someone in his administration understood the Laffer curve (wonder if anyone on the Tiara board knows what that is). Actually, I'm glad to be able to reference the Laffer curve (and see it referenced here) - that means that 10 years of college didn't go to waste.

What we are doing now is akin to refinancing your house to pay off your credit cards. Nothing like financing lunch at McDonalds for 30 years.:smt009 There appears to be no plan here except when a problem arises, throw money at it - it's ridiculous.

That being said, if the rock star wins in November, get ready for not just the recession Bush and the hedge funds have been so nice to give us, but an all out depression. I could be wrong about that though:smt009:huh::smt009
