After reading the AC get together, we really, really, really suck.......Does that motivate anyone this year to out do those bastards

I think it will be hard to pull it off for this year, but we can get a jump on next year... I think we could get a good turn out if it were in Block or Newport, as then you will pick up most Long Island and LI Sound people as well as the cape to Boston CSR members.

We can definetly put this together for next year, we can pick some dates and see what works the best for the masses, I think we can draw a large turn out.

Is this season already over ????????????? I know paint, I'm the sucky leader from 2 yrs ago that tried to put somthing together........You didn't do much better last year though LOL - Seriously, I will be in ACK the 3rd week of aug (makeup trip-long story) Add have thought about plymouth/boston too. With the ****ty economy a lot of great spots have plenty of availability - the gauntlet is down

I would reccomend block or cuttyhunk for ease of travel and that would draw more people from 3 or 4 states......I would also recommend late June for cost of dock space and less crowded...Just my .02 cents.....I cant believe we are now talking about 2011.....

Having just participated in the AC rendezvous, I would welcome a similar get-together a bit closer to home. But to get the kind of interest and participation that we had in AC you need a marina that can accomodate 20-30 boats ranging up to 62'. Cuttyhunk would not fit the bill for an AC type event, but more of an afternoon raft-up (if the weather is good and there is no northerly wind or sea).

Block is OK, but you will be limited to Champlains. You might consider Newport, Montauk and Greenport as alternatives.

someone needs to organize...maybe someone that was at the ac rendevous.......i nominate sea gull......if we run out of dock space we can raft 10.4 boats to him with his 65 foot boat

Thanks. I've got enough headaches just hearding my own small family. No way I have the patience to do what Ron did in AC. Frankly I would be a poor choice anyway - I'm just not that friendly.

why not do a "test run" this year somewhere? Does it need to be at a Marina?? Plenty of places to throw a hook. I can check with my local marina, Kingman Marine. They are always looking at different things to do. Pretty good facility. Great resturaunt right there, an island off shore,(Bassets) and easy to get to. Than there is always the Vineyard, Hyannis, Cutty, Menemsha, etc. Just random thoughts, I'm sure we could do something.

I am game any weekend......leaving work/boston now and will be on the vineyard by midnight.....i will be in VH if anyone wants to hydrate me......i am solo so i will be lonely....

The reason I sugested next year is most people I would think have allready planned there bigger trips, I am leaving Saturday for Block and will be there all week after this trip I will be basicly weekend boating with a couple of 3 day weekends thrown in till the end of the season. If I have to travel 3 to 4 hours somewere I wan't to stay atleast 3-4 days (Block is basicly 4 hours). I would sugest maybe the weekend after the 4th of July as this way people can make this a detination while on a larger trip, I know most with kids in school this would be tough to pull off at the and of June, with school getting out now like the week before July 4th (atleast with all the snow days...). I think to atract the masses it needs to be somewere that has family and adult friendly atmasphere. I would think that Montauk, Newport, and Block (Champlins) would fit our needs, certainly open for other sugestions too. I just think it should be within 4-5 hours for "most" to travel too.

If we target a Block Island, Newport, etc location we risk not having Boston's North Shore and NH boaters partake (not that I know how many there are out there). So is the goal to have a New England Rendevouz or something else?

How about putting a poll together with a few locations from Cape Code to RI and see where we get the most interest?

Personally, I think an ACK trip would be great...and do it in June when the rate is discounted significantly. Large facility, plenty of room, hell of boat ride. That could draw from NH, Boston, Cape, RI and perhaps a CT boater or two... Then again if we are looking for a "family friendly" experience, may want a location with more ammenities e.g. Pool, spa, etc..

I will be watching this with interest, most destinations with the exception of ACK sound great to me. Count me in. And for all those looking for a "dry run*" we have two, weekend of Aug 8th in Shelter Island and the following weekend on FI, LI. Come join!
*Disclaimer - NOTHING will be dry!

I will be Nantucket Aug. 5th - 8th and Block Is Aug 13-15th if anyone is interested in either of those locations.

Also, as CapeCodCruiser suggested, Kingman Marina is a nice destination......I'm there every weekend.

How about the weekend of Aug 20-22 at Kingman. Even if folks want to anchor out, there is a small island - Bassetts Island with plenty of room to anchor.

So anything ever become of this weekend..the 20th-22nd?
