I just took delivery of my "new" 1985 390 EC. It has a full Eeisenglass enclosure. After I got her docked and began to put up the canvas, I realized that the rear support frame was missing, obviously lost in transport- the mounting brackets missing and pulled out of the teak! Shipper is paid and takes no responsibility. I am so bummed...

Does anyone know where I might source this part, preferably used. Width is easy enough to measue, but do I need to do a mock up and measure for height for my canvass or is this a standard part I could order new, if it came to that? Having nothing to go by is frustrating.

Canvas frames are pretty specific to a boat model. There's no way to know if that frame was factory spec or was a later addition / replacement by the former owner. Especially with the age of your boat, I'm afraid your best option is to contact a local canvas maker and have them custom make a frame to fit your boat / canvas. Or, if you are so inclined, get the parts and tubing to make one yourself. Sailrite.com is good for materials, and has very extensive how-to guides for all manner of canvas fabrication.

Walt, I've had good luck working with local canvas makers on my prior 3 boats. Sit down with them, pick their brain about how to improve on factory designs and come up with your own design.

A good canvas shop should be able to make just about anything you want for your new baby.

Thanks, guys, for the replies. I contacted Sea Ray and the early 390's only came factory frame and canvass forward of the radar arch, so full cockpit enclosures would all be after market. The shops I've spoken with say they could make it pretty easily, IF they have all the original frame specs... and that template is laying crumpled up on the side of the road somewhere in NC. I'm hoping to get a guy to come out to the boat next week to take a look at my canvas to see if he can maybe come up with something to replace the lost frame.
