I haven't been down to the boat since the smoke got bad, but there is a post on a local FBook chat that said whatever was in the smoke is leaving a residue that is staining gelcoat.
I know there is definitely film of some sort on my car that won't just rinse off, so i can see some validity to this.

Anyone experiencing this?

Yes.
On the cars. With the rain the other day it seems to have left the deposits.
Haven’t been to the boat since the smoke appeared.

That’s not good….. from what I saw of the fire it’s mostly pine/spruce trees so you will have sap airbourne

Yes, airborne sap. Even here on the Chesapeake. My car(s) and the boat have it. Don't think it stains, but does need some help to remove it however.

Here on long island, went to my boat yesterday, with a little water and my hand and the black residue came off easily. Wasn't worried, figure soap and brush are in the weekend plans...

Welcome to the left coast life. Only we get it direct.

The ash shouldn't stain the gel coat. But you will need to wash things. That ash will pick up the crap in the air from pollution too. Just plan on using a good wash with a good brush. Last year, I had the ash with harvest dust. Plus the dirt road that runs on one side of the property.

I tried rinsing off my car this morning but still had to use the windshield washer to clean the windshield. Planning to go wash the boat tomorrow before the weekend. Definately needs soap and a brush to remove!

It definitely took a brush to get it off. I couldn't wait for the weekend....
