I was reading Boattest.com and saw this article on a new Bayliner 642. Was shocked to see the actual boat and dimensions. Who does the naming for their boats?

Yea, that's odd. I figured maybe 6.42 meters, but its more like 7.3, so I don't know.

6.42 m is 21.06'. I will assume it used to be called a Bayliner 21' boat here in the states and that is where the number is coming from. Boat is actually 21'5" (according to specs online) so why they didn't use that length , who knows.

When I pulled it up I thought I was going to see a 60' Bayliner not at 21' cuddy. This ad was for Americans so I didn't think they were talking meters.

Good news for Americans who are searching for a cuddy sportboat. The 21'5" (6.53 m) Bayliner 642 Overnighter which has heretofore only been available in Europe is coming to North America. This cuddy sleeps 2 and has nearly an 8' (2.43 m) beam and can be powered with sterndrive engines ranging from a 135-hp 3.0 L Mercury to a 220-hp 4.3 L Mercury

Since they were talking in the future tense, don't you suppose that is the European name and that it will be renamed?

The 642 has been in Europe since last September, not new for B-liner. The 742 cuddy is new, it made it's debut at the Paris Boat Show a couple of weeks ago. It's a 24 er' B-Liner has had nothing in either size cuddy in NA for several years, except for the 195 Discovery. This is the 742

Wow it must have outstanding performance with the 3.0 engine. Might even go 30MPH

"Who really cares? its a baysinker"

Excuse me, the correct name is Toiletliner.

As my dear old, very proper, and English grandmother used to say " it's just a "F...ing Toiletliner!"

So, a 2014 21' Bayliner, single engine with very few options $61 grand? Seems like a great deal of money for what looks to be an underpowered no frills boat.... To me at least

If you selected EVERY option you could get it to $51,477 including a trailer. Plus, thats just MSRP, true purchase price is probably more like mid 40's for all those options. I havent priced a 21' cuddy recently, but I'm sure its competitive with other entry level makers.

Not everyone wants or needs the best of the best, they just want something new, affordable, and reliable, and they get out on the water. I'm sure that's what most of you guys with 30+ year old dinosaurs thought when you boat your boat.....

Cant believe I just kind of defended Bayliner, but man the "Sea Ray is god" attitude is a bit strong on here......
