I don't think anyone does it up here ?

Although I have seen on boats at dealerships

Dealers can be hundreds of miles away up here

Is it a business any of you have got into ?

Although it would get in the way of Duck hunting

You can do it yourself with the right equipment and supplies! Just Google "shrink wrapping equipment". But it ain't cheap! 3-4 years and you will recoup your costs in savings over having it done for $7-10 per foot!

Isn't the question if you can shrink wrap yourself... to which I say... I don't think you want it all that tight... just use some saranwrap and meet your significant other. :smt038

Wow! I thought we had global warming? You are already trying to shrink wrap your boat. I guess the seasons have gotten smaller :)

Seriously,
I think that Salty Dog is right, the equipment cost is the only killer. I'm not sure how heavy the equipment is, and how awkward it is to handle, but the job seems to be pretty simple. I know a knife is all you need to "undo" it :) I can get you a screaming price on a nice pocket knife!

I bought a 40 x 60 foot truckers tarp and have used that for the last 5 years on the 250 DA. I built an A-frame and throw the tarp over that and tie it to the trailer. I use rope from the peak to the railing on the bow to make sure it doesn't become a bath tub. The snow slides off and there is plenty of circulation. Nothing is exposed to the sun or elements (not even the trailer tires!) and I can get under it at anytime to putter around. I leave the mooring cover on underneath. I paid $125 for the tarp and it's easily going to last 2 - 4 more seasons. It's hardly even worn. It's a heavy duty sucker with nylon straps every 4 feet. It's silver on one side and black on the other and weighs about 80 lbs.

I have an aversion flames around my boat! I don't like the propane torch and I'd recommend adding an electric heat gun for those smaller areas where the torch is overkill. You are still looking at $60 a year at current prices for shrink wrap and that's assuming you can re-use your door and vents every year. I'd also shrink wrap down to the trailer to keep the sides from exposure to the elements. That will take some additional shrink wrap based on what they send in the kits for a typical boat.

I'm sure you could split the cost of the torch with a friend or two and then buy the shrink wrap in bulk to save some bucks.

why do the whole boat & not just the top

I can put it in a quonset for $100

If I wrapped it I'd leave it outside

I've done those ones you can put on the inside of a window with a hair dryer
