Have boat in the yard geting bottom painted wheels need to be worked on have some piting on them and one bent blade size 21 x 24
But have a set 23 x 24 can you have the diameter cut down on them to 21"

2" is a lot to cut down. I suspect the cost will be a deterrent since the entire blade will have to be recontoured and the cup rebuilt. It will probably make finding some 21's a lot better option.

But why? The Sea Ray parts list calls for 23X24's for the '96 420AC.

Thanks Frank the boat is a 1998 420ac and has 3116 350 hp and turns 2850 rpm wide open and have never had a problem with anything hate to change if you know what I mean.
Taking both sets to a prop shop tomorrow and I will let you know what he tells me .
Who knows might try them like they are and see what happens 23 x 24 where a set that where in the bilge when I bought the boat.
You said that 23 x 24 is what came on the boat but I always herd Sea Ray over propped these boats.
Do you think that might be why someone changed Them ?
Thank You Frank for the help.

Sea Ray usually did over-prop the boats back then because the test runs were done with 2 guys, 50 gal of fuel, no water ,no waste, no gear and only a CG kit on board. By the time you and I load up a boat to use it, they weigh several thousand lbs more than test conditions.

And, if you are getting 2850 out of your engines now, don't mess with anything. Have the prop shop find/make you another set of props just like what you are running and keep 'em for spares.

Frank went with the props you where right on the 23" x 24" to much work but said my 21" x 24" where a easy fix. Having them plated new thing around hear and seams to work.
They have a man that plates them kind of like chrome but put a lot of copper in it instead of nickle does not come off nothing sticks to them.
At a $125 dollars extra per prop a few people around here have tried it everyone says it works sounds Cheap enough so I will give it a try and see.
But was lucky with the old props the prop shop said he would sell the 23" x 24" props for me.
Also have you ever heard of dinna quad dqx props he was telling me would give you 1 to 2 extra knots.
Thanks Frank Very much for the help
