I have a 2005 270AJ and I am upgrading the electronics. I have the Axiom 12 rv and Axiom 9 rv with Seatalk ng and HS5 network switch. I would like to connect the DSM250 to the network. I was thinking if I connected the 250 with Raymarine Adapter Cable Seatalk (1) To Seatalk Ng it would be on the network. Will my Axiom communicate with it or is the equipment too old?

Nope, 250 is too old. You need a 300 minimum to work. I did this on my last boat, bought a used 300 and the transducer adaptor cable and it "seatalked" right into the newer MFD's.

Now does your Axiom already have a built in port for a transducer? Most due... You might just need an adaptor cable for your transducer to plug into your Axiom.

That is a great idea. I will check. Thank you

I have a Maretron DSM410 connected as you describe...all data transfers, although raymarine cant display some PGNs that Maretron does.

I was going to try and find a cable adapter for the thru hull transducer but from what I have seen, the one that came as OE with my boat only has 3 wires. I then thought about replacing the transducer but I am worried about a leak. Now I am thinking about going to the DSM300 and attempting to connect that way.

3 wires??? Sounds like a depth transducer only? This was the cable I needed for my older 50/200 transducer to connect to a newer MFD. Post of picture of what you have so we can dee it better.

If you have a DST type you can buy the iTC-5 that puts that data on a SeaTalkng network.

Correct but at this point since you are installing a Axiom state of the art MFD you might as well get a new transducer. I guess it depends on what you are planning to do, use it as a fish finder for fishing or just a depth gauge.

Really, I was just hoping to use the current transducer if possible. Right now it is just a hole plug. I have the Raymarine 3d downview for fishing.

Then ITC 5 is you best solution to get it into the SeaTalkNG network. Or a standalone ST60 depth display.
