Can shrink wrap support all the snow?

If installed properly, shrink wrap can definitely stand up to the job. Although it's been mild this year, the amount of snow you're getting in the U.S. east is par for the course up around Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada. I'm sure someone can point to an issue they've encountered, however in the 10 years I've been boating, I've never heard anyone complain of damage from shrinkwrap failure.

If the pitch is right. . combined with 40+ MPH winds. . .I strongly doubt I am going to see snow on either of my boats. I talked to my neighbor down at the Shore today. . there was no news on the boat, so I guess the SeaRay is doing fine.

I am sure glad my boats are not in the water. That could be ugly. I am feeling REALLY good that I have my searay "overblocked" (four stands, three keel supports).

Dude... You said it never freezes up there where you live... remember? Someone was asking about ice eaters and you basically said don't waste your money... I think you said Dom lives in a different part of the country or something...

I hear ya! You have my sympathies!

However, if you want to keep the snow, that'd be fine with me too. We haven't had that much here this winter.:smt038

I would get it off as soon as ya can. No matter what is said, as long as that snow is up there your gonna lose sleep.
Ours pulled a mount outta the bimini last year-I requested the frame be left up since it helped headroom under the shrinkwrap. I got what I asked for. Also it did manage to pool an area on the bow but somehow it drained and the sun tightened the wrap back up.

Comsnark...everything you typed is here on this site, and you argued on and on about how it doesn't freeze where you are and Dom was wrong about freeze-ups. Now you say you don't want to feed the trolls??? Well count me as a troll then for saying the obvious: you must have been arguing for arguing's - sake?? Or what? Now you are saying you are glad your boats aren't in the water as it would be ugly. I'm not trying to be a troll but say what you really mean.

4 suns, I thought you said that you'll never come back here ????.Because someone was after your wife !!
Why are you picking on comsnark..
For a guy that deletes everything about himself holds NO stock in my eyes, :smt013. Yet you shoot your mouth off. :smt021.
Head Pot Stirrer

Until the last 5 days, I never had a problem. Same guy has done the shrink install the same way for 4 seasons and I've never had issues until this heavy snow. Of course the past 3 winters have been mild, so I guess his method for installing has never been truly put to the test until now. It obviously needs much more pitch.

I took my life into my hands Sunday morning to clean off all the snow. The section from the arch to the bow pulpit was completely caved in and filled with 24"- 30" of snow. From the arch back to the transom rail was caved in and had 15"- 20" accumulated.

My boat is on a lift in my back yard, so looking out the window Sun. morning was a shocker. I could'nt lower the lift very much because of the ice, so I climbed a piling and jumped on the bow and started shoveling. Took about an hour. The real fun was getting OFF the boat and onto the piling again. Did anyone ever tell you HOW slippery shrink wrap is?

Now I get to do it all over tomorrow. I'm just glad I spent the money for all the protection it provided :smt013. Live and learn.....or get somebody better next year, I suppose.

I went down to the boat yard today and my boat is fine. I can't say much for the guys who decided not to shrink wrap their boats! It looks like the local canvas shops are going to be busy this spring. Thanks for all your comments!
