I received this message from the boat yard.
"Due to the excessive snowfall, we have many boats that are overloaded with heavy snow. Shrink wrap and boat canvas are not designed to hold this much weight. We are doing what we can to help the situation by removing as much snow from the boats as possible. We will not get to them all and some boats may sustain damage. We will be in a better position to access any damage once the snow dissipates".
I can see many of the boats at the Marina from my backyard. I have also walked over there, so I can tell you that the ones that where shrink wrapped are doing fine. Those that chose to save some money and do it themselves, well some are not fairing very well.
I think I'd be in my car heading towards the boat yard!

There's no way snow can stay on it. Well a least on mine it can't .
I don't shrink wrap my boat, i'm not too crazy about shrink wrap.. Why spend so much money on it every year? Since my job is related to woodworking, I easily built frame for my boat, and I put 2 layers of cover, one is canvas on frame and then 2nd, tarp. It has done really well. I can reused canvas/tarp every year.. I copied my father. He did same thing and he still have same tarp when he bought his new boat in 1998.. With shrink wrap, you break your wallet every season when we bought tarp once and reused every season.
