I have a 1997 SeaRay Sundancer which has twin 3126 CATS which has a slow diesel fuel leak from the Port fuel tank. The fuel has been pumped out. Can repairs be made on board if I disconnect the exhaust on the the engine, disconnect the 4 bands? Or, does anyone know of a compound which can be applied to the outside of the tank to make the repairs? The leak appears to be dripping from the forward portion of the tank. Drips about 2 gallons every 24 hours. Boat is in Ft Lauderdale area.

I repaired a fuel tank with Pro Seal about 10 years ago and it is still leak free. You can get pro seal here. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ps890.php?clickkey=6388
It is a two part epoxy that is very rubbery. It sticks to everything and anything. Of course you have to be able to get to the spot where the leak is, clean it well and scuff it up with some sandpaper.

Good luck

Pete

Pete, thanks for the response. I know of air craft spruce since I owned a Merlin turbo prop. Now I have to find a Oriental midget mechanic who can do the work. We took photos of the leak and have a very good idea where the leak is. Safe boating.
