I am wanting to do the whole compound, polish and wax this spring. I won't be able to get it entirely done in one day. The boat stays in a open ended car port. Lots of pollen this time of year. Can I wash it the next weekend and finish the job without any ill effects?

Washing it after a compound seems like a good idea. I would avoid using a wash and wax type of soap. Maybe use dawn or something like that.

+1 on dawn or any surfactant type soap.

Washing is not a problem. You may be able to get away with just hosing it off to get rid of pollen.

Just don't leave it too long because the gelcoat is exposed and needs to get sealed and protected to avoid dirt getting embedded.
