Would like to shorten the tail end of the cavitation plate on my Bravo III? It hits my extended swim platform when in the trailer position.

I wouldn't recommend it. It is as it was designed to be and that is not something that is reversible. Does it still hit even if it is turned one way or the other? Mine is very close but does not touch.

If the height of the drive just before it touches the platform is adequate for trailering, maybe you could adjust your trim limit sensors to stop it at a lower point? Not sure how adjustable the upper trailer limit is.

+1 Maybe it's not properly functioning as it is and needs to be adjusted.

Where can you adjust the travel? There is a trim limit (midway for when in gear) and a trim sensor. It is a swimplatforms.com platform so its not factory.

In order to adjust the trailer limit you have to add spaces to the trim RAMs. I don't have the service manual with me at work but I'll post the details when I get home. When I ordered my swim platform for my previous boat swimplatforms.com sent me the spacers. Now that was for an alpha drive but I think the BIII is similar.

And by the way it's an anti-cavitation plate.

The trim limit switch is bypassed in trailer mode so adjusting it will not help you.

Learn something here every day.

In the meantime, if you have a functional trim gauge, run the unit up in trailer mode until its at a position you are at a comfortable with. Record that point on the gauge with a sharpie. If you have no gauge, from a full out trim, hit the trailer button and count the number of seconds it takes to get the drive to a position you are at a comfortable with. Unless you have a trailer switch in the stern, the latter will require two folks.

Good Luck.

OK since the trim cylinders are the same on alpha and bravo drives the spacer will work. See page 12 of the following document.
(remove the spaces in the link)
In order to install the spacers you do have to remove the end caps of the trim cylinder.

The part number you need is 15768A3 Spacer Trim Kit.
