Can I replace my Ring gear without pulling engine?

Has anyone been able to replace there damper or ring gear while it's in the boat? I have a 2004 340 V-drive. I understand the shaft has to come out and it will be on land. Is there enough room to slide the trans back to get to the ring gear/flywheel bolts without hitting the back wall?I think I only have like 3 inches to spare.

I'd say no. I'm mean if you pull the trans you probably could but why? The engine can be pulled flywheel replaced and engine back in same day. if you're going to do this yourself it could be more trouble than it's worth.
