Hi All

I recently changed out my Manifolds and Risers. I figured while I was in the EC I would change out my cooling hoses as well.

I just received a back-ordered part that I did not realize I even ordered and it is one of the cooling hoses (Number 11 in the illustration)

Can I change out this hose while the boat is floating? My felling is yes because the impeller fins will prevent the water from getting through the open fitting:huh:

Also see number 11 from this link: http://www.perfprotech.com/store/assembly/Standard-Cooling-System,2697-110.aspx

I have actually experiened this hose breaking before, and you will have a steady trickle of water coming in the boat if you do change this hose while in the water. Water will still make it past the fins. Your bilge pump should be capable of keeping up for the few moments you have it disconnected.

OK--I think what I will do is build a plug:

1. Take one end off (Engine Side) and plug the existing hose
2. put the new hose on (Engine Side)
3. have the new hose (Transom side) ready with a hose clamp and
4. Pull the old hose from transom
5. Quickly put new hose to transom.

much thanks.

Sounds like a plan. However, save yourself the trouble and just gets some vice grips and a rag and pinch the line off rather than go through all the trouble of making a plug.
