I have a 2007 Amberjack 270 with the 6.2 MPI Merc engine which came with a Smartcraft Gauge. Can I hook the gage up to my Raymarine C80 to display some of the info the gage can display like my fuel economy, fuel used, engine rpm, sterndrive trim, fuel range untill empty, ect?

By the way what does the troll function do on the smart craft gage?

Im sorry if these questions seem stupid but I have not yet tanken delivery of the boat and Im trying to research these things before we hit the water with it in 2 months!

Thanks

Unfortunately it works the other way around. You can take the NMEA output from your C80 and input it into the Smartcraft system to get (depending on display) fuel mileage, cross track error, heading, time to waypoint, etc. But Raymarine will not accept incoming data from Smartcraft.

I am not sure if this will work on the gauge only systems. I installed an SC5000 and the nav data appears on that.

If you want display of the Smartcraft data, you can add a Northstar display and use a adaptor cable. DaveS has done this on his boat and published extensive photos.

Also keep in mind Smartcraft does a a lot of stuff, some of which requires optional sensors, or only applies to specific engine drive combinations. Some of these things you have to manually turn off in the set up if they do not apply to your boat.
