I was considering adding a "camper canvas" to my '07 320; Has anyone done it? Does it give you more room in the cockpit/sitting area? Plus and minuses? What is everyones opinion?

I've been thinking the same thing. I think you have 2 choices: have one custom made, or look at the Taylormade Fastback system. I think either would give you some significant additional headroom.

The custom route can get pretty pricey and it adds posts that affect the entry and exit, the Taylormade Fastback makes the boat look a bit different. http://www.taylormarine.com/fastback/index.html

Since my boat is new (to me) I'm probably going to wait a year and see how I like the current setup.

that seems like a cool system and easy to install yourself. Any ideal how much those systems cost? Probably something crazy like 10k!! There will go my ideal for a Christmas present. :)

One of our neighbors has that on there Monterey and do not like it. They are looking to having a full camper canvas made like our 280da has. On of the isuues with the Taylormarine one is the fact that it is either all up or all down. Good luck.

My previous boat was 2003 320. It had a custom camper back. Here in the NW we boat year round so it is a necessity with Red Dot cockpit heat. The cost is around $4,500. I added a camper back to my '04 390 for the same reason. You must be aware of the need maintain ventilation at slow speeds to avoid carbon monoxide issues. We have had no problems though. Just keep the power vent open/cracked in the front windshield.

I got a price from Taylormade about a month ago. $2500 for the Fastback enclosure for my boat. Pretty reasonable.

I like my fastback because it is 1 piece of canvas, easy to put up and take down. The new ones can have the sides rolled up leaving the back fairly open. If you take the fastback all the way down you have a wide open cockpit. Lots of interior room when it is installed. If I had to do it again, it would be a fastback...
