I am ordering a camper back for my 2005 340 Sundancer, does anyone have pictures of what they have done?

Are you planning to purchase an entire camper canvas package, or just a rear panel? We love the standard camper package produced by Great Lakes for the 260. I've read that some people think the design is too boxy looking, but it adds tons of dry space. It's one of our favorite features of the boat

If you're looking to purchase only the rear panel, I was recently quoted $475.

I don't think that Sea Ray or Great Lakes offer campers for the 340.
I believe that this will have to be done at a local canvas shop.

Sea Ray does not offer a camper back for the 340SD. Taylor Made has one that will fit if you want to go that route. http://www.taylormadegroup.com/frames/fshome.html Click on Taylor Made Systems and then click on Fastback Enclosures.

Personally, if it was my boat, I would have a good canvas shop fabricate one for me complete with the poles and supports needed. I would have them make this rear section so it folded up just like other biminis do on the smaller cruisers such as my 260DA. That way I could use it for sun protection when I wanted to in the hot summer sun as well. I would then have the various side curtains made to enclose it so I had a full camper canvas when needed. If you look at bounty's posting in this thread you will also see what he had made for his 340. http://www.byowneryachts.com/forums...stdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=top&start=15
Here is one picture that shows his rear bimini top.

We love ours ... custom built about $4K. it is built so we can cruise with it open or closed without any exhaust fumes comin in the cockpit and there is no flapping whatsoever either even when running full speed

Robski97:

I'm seriously considering a TaylorMade Camper for my 340. I like the idea of very little hardware. How hard is it to take down and put up this unit? Any pros and cons?

Thx!

We bought the Fastback for our 2005 340 last year and have been extremely happy with it. The only "cons" I can think of is that you can't remove the sides to form a "shade" covering during the day (although some people roll up the sides). It is very easy to put up, but it is all one piece -- so if you are in a hurry to put it up, it's easier with two people. Some people don't like the rounded look, but it looks better than I thought it would. The Fastback also performs very well while underway -- no rattling, etc. It was the perfect solution for us since I did not want the hardware on the back and we normally do not keep the bimini's up during the day anyway....

I agree. That is one beautiful boat Alex. But the pink shorts really have to go.
Veeery funny ... however they're not pink, they're tan, the colors just came out funky for whatever reason ...
