We had another great, typically calm, August day on Lake Superior. Took some visiting friends out for a tour of the lakeshore and Grand Island.
Enjoy the pictures:

An unfortunate cliff casualty. This is the second seen this year that ended up in the water.
Two weeks back some divers rescued one trapped on a small, cliff enclosed beach.
They wrapped it in a blanket and transported it to a wooded shoreline.

Was that deer on miners beach? We were just there yesterday for a wedding. We just got home. We took the pictured rocks cruise Saturday night and it was steady 3-4' seas.

Definitly GODS country up there for sure, we want to come up there but we need at least 3 weeks, Is there any marina can support the 480 and Have diesel fuel readily available..???
We come up to Baraga State Park every year for our Honey moon vacation this year we're heading to Montana to the Mountains.....
Let's see more UP pics Sir....

Great pics. The last time I was on Superior was as a kid on a 14ft aluminum with a 9.9 on the stern!

wonderful pics!

Just curious if you happen to have a water temp to share with us? The buoys are showing a balmy 46 degrees.

I was wondering the same thing. Superior was covered over with ice so late into the spring/summer I wondered how much the water had warmed up.

Beautiful pics of a beautiful part of the country. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Further down on Chapel Beach near Chapel Rock, the end of where the tour boats go. This was on Friday afternoon, I hope the weather opened up a window for the wedding.

Grand Marais and Marquette have diesel. Grand Marais is very limited on dockage with only a 150 foot wall. Marquette has plenty of room. Here in Munising the breakwall is getting 150 feet added with a new inside floating dock having 30, 50 foot slips. With that diesel will also be available. Dredging was completed this year with the rest beginning next spring. Right now if diesel was needed arrangements can be made with with one of the tour boat operations.

Surface temp was running 68 degrees, Dive down a bit and it drops another 10. Warmer along the beaches.

Thanks for the comments - I'll keep the photos coming through the seasons.

There's a lot of big diesels running up here. You just have to plan your fuel stops in the right place. We can handle you at Houghton. This 60 footer was just here a couple weeks ago . He was leaving the next day for Isle Royale.
