Calling all 360 DA owners

We have just spent 5 days on the boat and the freezer condensation problem still exists. We turned down the freezer as low as the dial will let us and the temperature is -10. The air conditioning has been on during the times we were at our slip. However, the outside wall of the freezer next to the fridge gets covered in water droplets which of course drip down forming a large water issue.
I have read in previous posts on my issue that lowering the thermostat fixed the problem for some, however it is not helping us. I was thinking of maybe putting a thin piece of insulating foam between the fridge and the freezer. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

I am the cause of some confusion regarding the temperature reading. Being from Canada we are using Celsius not Fahrenheit. So when I said the freezer is at -10C that is +14F.I would like to point out that if I turn up the dial on the freezer any warmer, I will be turning it off.

I certainly appreciated your suggestion. I am now thinking that there is either warmer air from the fridge coming against the cooler wall of the freezer creating condensation. I will experiment with a piece of foam insulation between the two appliances to see if that would help. I will continue to come up with a solution but if anyone has any suggestions on this it would be appreciated.

Anyone knows the anchor specs for our boats, should it be 33 lbs or 44 lbs? I believe it's 33 lbs according to the measurements (14 inches x 32 inches) when I compare to other anchors on the net....I need to replace my Kodiak anchor (it's twisted!) but I'm not sure if I should order 33lbs or 44lbs...I can find a brand new 44 lbs in Stainless Steel on the net for only $439...but they are not making any 33 lbs...Just not sure if 44 lbs could be too heavy?

Thanks, Hugo

Well guys, it has been fun being part of the 360 gang here, but I guess it is time to move on. The new owners of Captain's Choice took possession today. He and his wife are looking forward to taking their new-to-them boat to their marina about 40 miles up the lake tomorrow morning. As for us, we have our eye on a 400 Sedan Bridge. We will have to see how it plays out. In the mean time, I will be catching up on cleaning the garage, painting the fence, fixing up the landscaping and all that other stuff that we just don't have time for when we are busy doing more laborious tasks like cruising the waterfront or rafting up at the beach. Hopefully it won't take to long to find a boat....that sounds dreadful. Happy and safe boating, I'll be lurking

I just replaced mine and Sea Ray speced the 35 lb plow anchor for my 380 so you wont need a 40 lb unit. My 380 weighs in the 20k lb range.

I have the 02 360 and I noticed yesterday my freezer was getting warmer. I pulled out all of the freezer items this morning when I was leaving the boat, but wondering if something went out on my freezer or not. Definitely was not cold, and I was on shore power. The refrigerator was working just fine, and was cold. Wondering if I have to replace this freezer, or can I do it without replacing the refrigerator and also keep the wood paneling?

Mfg: Coolmatic
Model: RDF50B / RDF-050FB

Of course the previous owner didn't leave any manuals.

Thanks Jeff, I listed it here on CSR last fall, had over 1000 hits, and never an inquiry. This spring I listed it with a friend that lists on boattrader. Had a few calls but everybody had a boat to sell first. A fellow that had a '91 310 that he didn't need to sell in order to buy, came and looked at it, and bought it. So, it has been for sale for a while, but it sold to the first guy that looked at it.
While the deal was in process, he sold his old boat so everybody is happy.
Having fun shopping...I think we are getting close (fingers crossed)

Mark, thank you for your help when I was in the process of buying our 360 2years ago. Keep us in the loop re your 400db if you end up getting one. Those are beautiful boats.

I do remember you posting on CSR. Just curious if you sold for close to your asking price?

Just checking back in after a while away - on the boat now.

First, thanks to my3sons for all your help on this thread and in the forum. I, too hope you will stick around to help us in the future!

Our boat turns 10 this year (we've owned it for 4 years; traded up from an '02 340 w/ outdrives)- with the white hull, nobody can tell its age when it's clean and polished. That's kind of neat, and something I worry about when I see the newer, more stylized SR boats. We deleted the boot stripe on the bottom of the hull, as it was distorting/peeling from the fuel vent runoff when filled. It doesn't look bad without the stripe and we probably won't replace it.

We're approaching 400 hours, and mechanically it's been trouble-free. The other major systems like the generator, galley, head, a/c, plumbing, lighting, stereo, and fridges are doing ok, too. Was noticing a weird smell in the cabin and noticed some mold growing under the notorious freezer; popped the drawer out, cleaned it up and all is well again.

To be honest, I hate the Mercruiser Smartcraft gauges, the digital display, and the systems monitor. I get random false readings and errors for just a few seconds seemingly every time out- pump alarms, completely incorrect and variable fuel readings, and just a week ago one of the screen navigation buttons on the digital display stopped working. I know this isn't unique to our model 360, but this system isn't built to last the same way the rest of the boat is...what happened to the days when you could just swap out a single faulty gauge or sender - now it seems troubleshooting this POS system is going to be an enormous flow chart of interconnected stuff controlled by a really expensive, proprietary computer. The only other problems were a Raytheon/Raymarine VHF that crapped out and the helm seat should adjust a couple of inches higher- seems like I'm always sitting on a pillow and I'm 5'8".

Depending on load, current, wind, I find myself cruising anywhere between 3150-3350 rpm- usually whatever it takes to get to 22 mph or so. I am a bit sensitive to noise, and things seem a whisker quieter under 3300 rpm and I'm usually getting .78 smpg running this way when perfectly trimmed. I absolutely don't miss outdrives (noise, clunky shifting, more maintenance, deeper draft), but those who are just coming to inboards/v-drives need to understand top speed isn't something you care about with an inboard...(If you were curious, just above 37 mph at ~4720 rpm, burning just under 60 gph is what I saw just today- it's a glorious sound and really smooth at that speed, but we only do that a couple times a year to be sure everything's healthy.)

As the boat continues to age well and provide good service, I don't think our family will be trading up anytime soon. We're not fans of SR's newest design language and think the last of the "greats" was the circa '05 model 420da (or 44, whatever they called it depending on the year). If the new boat prices keep heading for the stratosphere, I imagine the used market for boats like ours should be strong, provided gas prices don't move much higher.

I hope all of you have a safe and fun season on the water!

Thanks for the kind words, I'll be around, just can't stay away... A few years back, I had one of the buttons stick on the smartcraft, it was the down arrow I believe, and I was able to get it back working by pushing on it and "working it around" slightly. Took a few minutes, but it popped back up and all was good, worth a shot. I know your pain on the false readings of the readouts...FWIW, I spent a rainy afternoon once disconnecting harnesses and spraying with contact cleaner, and all seemed pretty good after that.
Take care

I have been having condensation problems with my freezer in our 03 360 Sea Ray. Then the other day we heard a clicking sound coming from the freezer area and sure enough next morning the freezer is getting warm and not coming on. I called our Sea Ray tech and he diagnosed the problem as being the AC/DC Relay. This relay automatically switches the power from AC to DC and or DC to AC depending on the source of power. The tech determined that because the relay wasn't working properly it would only activate power to the freezer on DC, 12 volt. He ordered a new relay and all is working fine. You might want to check this out before replacing the freezer. Hope this helps.

Just got her home. All I have right now are survey photos. I will get some up this week.

I just picked up a 2004 360 DA, moved up from a 2002 300 DA.

Stumbled upon this forum which has been an interesting read.

I love most everything about the upgrade, but I miss my Garmin Chart Plotter with G2 chip I had in the 300. The 360 has the Raymarine RL70CRC Plus which has not been very user friendly. It seems to always spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find my boat. I also have great difficulty easily getting it into the Radar/Chart overlay mode even though I read the manual and created a pocket size cheat sheet.

The 360 came without an Autopilot, which I intend to add this winter. The Raymarine Evolution EV-200 is recommended by one installer and the Simrad AP24 by another. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I saw the thread where they installed a touch screen chartplotter in addition to the factory supplied Raymarine unit left on for Radar, wondering where to locate the touchscreen unit given that the autopilot will take up the only remaining space.
