Cage match, here’s your sign…

Don't know about any other forums, but on CSR, I say, bring back the balls!
Oh, and yes, I feel as though it should be possible and you should steel yourself to being kicked off the island.
Balls? Kicked?
Well, it's like this. I was for a long time, but now I employ.

As far as the "tech" goes, if you were worth even HALF your salt,...

You would show me/us, the most resent post of yours that was helpful to a fellow member as to the maintenance, repair, diagnosis, upgrade/update, useful links, or any other sound advise whatsoever, that would actually help somebody with their boat.

Here's a very recent one to Sea Nile, wondering about his water pump quitting after running for an hour:
"Most pumps have a label saying do not run continuously. They are designed for intermittent operation only.
It has overheated and failed."

Here's one from a few days ago about an engine and drive that hasn't operated in many years:
"The advice to get this boat in your driveway before doing anything to it is very sensible. If the trailer needs work get it off the trailer and have it towed home and blocked up. You can limp home with the empty trailer, if you have to.

Change the drive lube and check the old oil for water (milky). I would get a pressure test done on the drive before mounting it. Definitely install a new impeller. Check the shift cable for smooth operation.

The prior advice on the engine prep is generally good.
Pull the plugs and spray in fogging lube before attempting to turn the engine over. With the plugs out, turning it over by hand is do-able. Change ALL fluids (100% fresh gas) and filters. Check every belt and hose. Ground the plugs. With a fresh battery, turn it over a few times to spread the oil. Spray more in. Turn it over again. Now put the plugs back and see if it will fire-up. The impeller is in the Alpha leg so no damage will be done. A minute or two is enough with no coolant. There is no point in putting the leg on until you know that the engine is good.

I would replace the bellows and the raw water hose. Grease all bearings and splines. Get a new gasket set and use high-tack sealant. Ensure the shift cable is engaged. Alphas should have the shift lever forward. Bolt it up.

With the leg straight and down, put the blower and the muffs on, get the water flowing well and start it up. Have the arrestor on and an extinguisher handy. Idle only - maybe up to 1200 rpm max. Check oil pressure and after a few minutes, the water temperature. Check for leaks at the engine and into the bilge.

Check all through hull fittings, hoses and the garboard plug. If everything checks out, you could now consider a sea trial."

But you could search the same as I do "Tech"mitch. Or maybe you can't?

Facts speak volumes:
With 682 messages Mitch, I have 415 likes.
That's 61% of my posts are liked by other members.

With 4710 messages, you have only 1449 likes.
That's only 31% of your posts liked.

You certainly have lots to say Mitch, but most other members are not impressed with your contributions. Why is that?

Monaco Mike is even less liked than you, with less than 30% of his impressive number of postings being liked.

Thank you blaster, for another accolade.
Game, Set, Match!
Guys like Mitch and Mike need to check their junk before beaking off on someone else's..
Posting three times implies impulsivity, whatever you would like to think.

You seem to feel the need to explain yourself to Mitch and prove your worth to the site.

You also call out Mitch for fewer likes while not understanding the history of CSR. Likes were a recently added feature and were in place by the time you joined the group. Therefore, you are not making a valid comparison, as long time members only started accruing likes some time on or about 2018.

@Juliery Could you check the Join Dates for Mitch and MM and compare them to your join date? While you are at it, tell us when the forum software was updated that allowed for members to start liking other's posts.

One more thing, you should consider the consequences of threatening someone's life from your keyboard.

Ya but....his likes were for 'best wrench' and yours were for interpretive dance. This proved out by the fact his Trophy Points are near double yours.:D

What newbies here do not understand is many of us are friends and have been posting and helping others for years, including way before the current stresses of life, and have a camaraderie that transcends the pixels on a screen.

Exactly this.

Haha. Cage Match! Love it!
You guys get riled up so easily. To know me is to love me. Where's your banter and witty repartee, boys?
"Watch your six?" he says. That's really too lame. An accountant says this after binge-watching too many Mark Wahlberg videos.
See - like that!
Have you looked at the name of the thread? I was trying to be nice about it, but you obviously don't get nuance. Only a douche threatens someone's life from behind an anonymous internet forum account. But you go Rambo.

100% this. I have been on this forum for 14 years. I have received a lot of help over the years and hopefully helped others as well. I have had a lot of laughs due to this forum as well. A lot of great, knowledgeable people have come and gone over that time. But there is a core group of us who, I think, share a loyalty to the site and other long-term members. Shit disturbers like Wingless and Julie come and go and nobody misses them. Not trying to offend or insult, just stating facts. YMMV.

Wow I suck... My "likability" is at 25% and I'm a new member with the higher "like" duration modifier. Damn, now ClubSeaRay hardly feels better than High School.

Haha. Until about 4 or 5 months ago I didn't even realize you could "like" someone's post. I've never even bothered to check my "likability".

You're killing it highslice! 52% and likely prom court material.

Now, how do I get a member data dump of name, posts and likes of users active in last 12 months? I'm feeling a pivot table ranking chart. Damn these spreadsheet cravings...

Weird, just weird.

Like the old song, "Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends".

Be helpful, not hurtful. It is human nature to gravitate toward the negative (me included, and I do from time to time), but the challange is to resist.

And help other folks along the way, that's very important to me...

IMHO
