Hi Everyone!
New to the forum, but just purchased my first Sea Ray. I am doing a little upgrade and hope I am posting in the right area.
I am pulling out the original TV's and going to put cabinet doors in place of the original cut outs. I have a cabinet maker, but he can't find the overlay material to give it the wood look. I assume it is formica, but having difficulty finding the exact material. Any help is appreciated!!!!

Brad,
I was able to get a piece of this wood Mica from Sea Ray. You are correct it is like formica. I have an '03 320 so it might match your's, still have some left over. How big of piece do you need?
Jeff

From your picture it doesn't look like it's going to match. Mine looks more like the trim piece to the right of the TV.
Jeff

Jeff,
If it looks like the material to the right of the TV, that might work. The material that I need to use for the cabinet door will match the rest of the paneling. Do you happen to have a pic of it?
Thanks,
Brad

Why not use real wood? I would suggest cherry (all heartwood) with a satin rubbed finish would look very classy.

I need to have it match the rest of the material in the boat because it will be right up against the original material. Thanks for the suggestion.

Brad,
I could send a small sample if you PM me your address.

Ok, then I think you could use the front inserts in your refrigerator and freezer as these should be the same material. The inserts could be replaced with custom cut stainless steel panels.

We decided this year to stock laminate in 2'x2', 4'x4' as well as the full sheets we carry at 4'x8'. The restorationmarine.com Store should be updated by tomorrow morning for those selections for Sovereign Cherry.

Best,

It is really hard to tell from the photo. If you PM me your address, I will send a Sample Kit for you to compare the finish to.

Nuvacor holds the patent on the process to make the polycarbonate wood-grained substrate that was used to create the laminate. Nuvacor licensed the patent to several companies who provided the material to Sea Ray and other boat builders. Each of those companies developed their own colors and wood grain patterns. As a result, some colors/patterns have been lost over time as several of the companies shut down operations (such as Vitracore). Nuvacor has a number of the colors/patterns which are an identical match including Sovereign Cherry (most popular finish) and Executive Cherry which found its way onto larger Sea Rays. We also have some of the maple finishes as well.

I started RestorationMarine.com to meet the demands of post manufacturing marine market. We sell the laminate material worldwide to boat owners, marine repair facilities and Marine Max. It is great material to work with.
