i am at a loss with all thee options today. i want a head unit with Bluetooth, aux input and a usb input in the back so i can run a separate usb line up to the cockpit for audio control from a non bluetooth ipod or a friends phone or whatever in the future. would also like to add a remote location aux input in the cockpit or port side lounger. I also want a dash mounted remote for the helm. i know, a lot to ask but does anybody have any experience with something that wont break the bank?
i don't need studio quality audio, i need something that will be better than my (sony, came with the boat). i also need new cockpit speakers but those are fairly easy to pick through

awesome, i wonder if it will support the remote i have already too... ill take a look, thanks. its tough searching by specs and features. haven't found a website that is easy to actually look through. also limited by space available. needs to be single din

It will not support a sony or any other brand remote and will only support the letest generation of clarion remotes. But, clarion does offer both a small and large round remotes that have about same OD as both the sony large and small round remotes.

oh, i have an older clarion remote still mounted from a previous owner. not a big deal to replace it, its rather small and kind of hard to read even though its in perfect condition. time for a shiny new one i guess

Before and after:

Flounder pounder now carries this little panel I had custom made as a stock item.

i really like that look.

I'm still a big fan of the Fusion 700 Series. They will do everything you are looking for and a bit more. My favorite thing is their app that lets you control the head unit, from anywhere on the boat, using a cell phone or iPad. And you can get multiple zones if needed along with "Zone Amps" to just boost the power where you need it. So as an example, if I'm on the boat and I'm sitting on the aft deck enjoying some tasty tunes I can control the volume in any of the 4 zones, adjust the sound, change the playlist or song right where I'm sitting with my iPad as a wireless remote. If I go down to the master stateroom I can use my Samsung phone as a remote to mute that zone so I can take a phone call.

I feel the Fusion offers much more IMHO....

well that sounds awesome. i use a full windows tablet. i wonder how compatible it would be.

Magstang1, i would probably just omit the cabin speakers as we would have one or more of the kids down for a nap for atleast the next few years. i would rather have another pair in the rear of the deck seating area. one near the fold down step and one near the battery switch access door.

I have 4 speakers in the cabin and 4 speakers in the cockpit. I also have two 4 channel amps. One for the cabin, one for the cockpit. I added a rocker switch in the switch panel on the right side of the helm to control the remote wires for them. It's a 3 position switch like the nav lights. Position one is just cabin, position 2 is cabin and cockpit, position 3 is just cockpit.

Just push a button. Works great.

The app is available in all formats. The beauty is you don't need to run wires for remotes and you can have remotes all over the boat. When my wife is on board we have a remote on both of our iPads and each of our 2 cell phones (personal and work) for a total of 6 remotes. Now that's a bit of an overkill but on 52' we are always a short reach from a remote.

One other thing.... I have the IP700 which accepts multiple devices in a dock behind the faceplate. It comes with about 10 adapters. I use an old iTouch, sync it with all of my music from my iTunes account and just leave it in the unit. The Fusion keeps the iTouch charged and I have about 750 songs on hand in multiple playlists. My favorite is when I'm on the boat alone but I also have one that is similar for when the wifey is on board. She has to have her Jimmy Buffett.

thanks for your help everyone but for now (after some research) our sony M60ui still has eveything we need and the ability to accept multiple usb locations around the boat. we will just need a new commander remote for the helm and that should be it. if i wanted to spend over $500 on stereo right now it would on the new fusion, they look awesome but i am also limited on space withoutu serious modification.
