My cabin hatch needs some attention. the plexiglass has separated from the frame. It has like a rubber gasket or soft rubber of sort on it like if it came from caulking. Or it may just be old and melted or whatever. Point is, I need to reseal the plexiglass to the hatch frame. Can I just use silicone for Mold resistant caulk?

How should this be resealed?

Thanks in advance.

silicone could be used, but may not be strong enough. better use 4200 or 5200

I have this same issue. The previous owner tried his own repair with clear silicon and it is not holding. Now I will have to clean out his mess and do it again. Let us know how it works out for you.

I used a polyurethane roofing adhesive in black. Has mold resistive properties, and bonds to many materials. 5 bucks at home depot.

I cleaned up the old stuff. taped off the top and bottom of plexiglass, and the inside and outside of frame to keep it nice and neat. Using the caulking gun, I put some in the frame where the glass sits in ( use more than you think ). Put the plexiglass in and centered it to the frame. Caulked the edges. Waited an hour, and pulled tape. Looks like new. Temperature is dropping here into the 40s so it may take some additional time to cure.

Should be stronger than silicone ( it holds shingles ).

I redid all mine on my old 25.Used a exterior grade heavy duty clear silicone.the key was to remove all the old caulk and clean everything.worked out really nice after the repair, looked like factory also.
