My 2005 320DA's cabin door slides on a plastic track. The boat was delivered new with
a broken track and was replaced. Now it has broken again. A Sea Ray mechanic
stated that new tracks are aluminum. What does your cabin door slide on and what has been your experience with it?

I too have a 2005 320 and the door glides easily open and close..never had a problem with it...What did the dealer say as to the cause?

see if they'll "good faith" warrant the thing. All they can say is no.

He didn't give a reason, just stated that Sea Ray is replacing the plastic tracks with aluminum.
A new track has been ordered for replacement. I suspect that plastic just isn't strong enough to take the weight of the door. Sea Ray must feel that way since they appear to be going away from the plastic tracks.

2007 320 has the aluminum track - no problems, so far.

I replaced my plastic track with aluminum. You can search my name for the details on this site. Long story short, on a 340, you can do it without removing the helm, but it's not easy. They use power tools to install them before the windshield and helm are added. I don't know about the 320, but I bet it's pretty close.

On mine the track is aluminum with the white nylon runners. Never a problem, but take care to always close the door completely before going up the steps. If you don't problems could arise at some point.

Mine has aluminum. Was broke when I took delivery. Didn't get fixed for 3 months because they didn't have the ability to do it at my marina. It was a pain in the a**. Finnally got it down to the dealer and they replaced. Said they have had multiple issues with '06 260 - 320's.

Waterfriendsfor-
We have 05 320 and never had a problem till this spring. One out of every five times sliding closed it sticks in mid slide. I did not pay atention to see if is was plastic or aluminum. Nice to know Buds is taking care of the problem. Thanks for the heads up.

I helped a friend with an 03 320 replace his plastic tracks. He replaced with new plastic tracks, and the door is still not 100%, and I suspect the new tracks are also starting to wear. Aluminum is definitely the way to go, if you can.

As for the repair, we did it without removing the helm, but had to remove the guage cluster and work through the hole in the dash were the guages sit. It was not pretty. Took a lot of time (and four letter words!). Had to use short handled screwdrivers. The screws were in there real tight.

If the door is sticking, check for a sagging door in the middle. You can see it drag on the edges of the door slot as you move it. If it is, be sure to prohibit anyone from exerting any weight on the top of the door (except for those designed with steps), especially when it's hot outside. At the bottom of the door, I pulled the two bolts closest the helm (the way the door opens) out, lifted the door, then re-installed the bolts below the bottom edge of the door.

This raised the door just enough to counter a little sag in the door without causing it to bind at the top of the slot. It now slides full open to full closed (and back) with one finger.

Hey guys-
I have an '03 240 Sundancer and noticed the sliding door sticking suddenly this last weekend (this is only the 3rd weekend I've spent on the boat since I bought it used last year).
I did notice screws loose on the aluminum track down inside the well...how the heck does one get to them to tighten them up? Or, is that a dealer issue? Looks like a can of huge worms.
Otherwise, after 8 sailboats, I love this stinkpot!!
