Hello. I have a 1996 240DA and I want to put a handle on the outside of the cabin door. Anyone drill into their cabin door? Advice?

I did. I took the cabin door off of my previous 240 to replace the plastic slides with a roller system (huge undertaking! Had to remove the helm!). The door is a solid piece of 3/4" plywood sandwiched between two layers of 1/8" fiberglass. Drill away! BTW... The 1997 240 DA I just purchased has a handle on the door. Very convienent.

Thanks for the reply. I did just drill away lol. The roller system sounds like a great idea. It's a little tough to open so the new handle will help.

Try using some slightly watered down Dawn dish detergent in a spray bottle. Ajust the spray nozzle to a stream and spray the slide tracks on the door top and bottom. Let it stand for an hour or so then use a hose at full power or a power washer on the tracks to clean them off. When they are dry, spray the tracks with a silicone spray (not WD-40). Door should move easer in the tracks. My door was FROZEN so I had no choice. I had to remove it and install the roller system.

Ok thanks for the advice. The handle does help and hopefully the silicon will make it slide easier.
